Service Description

Couples therapy with me is designed to be structured, fair, and practical—especially when things feel stuck, tense, or repetitive. Each 90-minute session is intentionally divided so both partners have space to feel heard, followed by time together to make sense of what’s happening between you. Together we work towards a clear understanding of your relationship pattern (what triggers it, what keeps it going, and what each of you needs underneath it). From there, I create a shared formulation and treatment plan, with home practice between sessions so change continues outside the room—not just during the session. Session structure Each 90-minute session is split into three parts: Partner A – individual space (approx. 20–25 mins) A focused check-in to understand your experience, your needs, and what feels most difficult right now. Partner B – individual space (approx. 20–25 mins) The same focused check-in, so each person has equal time and the work stays balanced. Together – shared work (approx. 35–45 mins) We bring the pieces together: identify the cycle/pattern, practise new ways of communicating, and agree a practical next step for the week ahead. (The exact timing can flex depending on what’s needed in the room.) What’s included 90-minute couples therapy session A clear, trauma-informed formulation of the relationship pattern A treatment plan (what we’re focusing on and why) Practical home practice (communication tools + structured exercises) Ongoing review of progress and adjustments as you go Who this is for Couples stuck in repeating arguments, shutdown, or distance Relationships affected by anxiety, trauma history, trust issues, or emotional reactivity Couples who want structure and clear direction, not just “talking about problems” Partners who want to learn tools and practise them between sessions Couples therapy works best when both partners can attend regularly and commit to home practice. It is not suitable as emergency crisis support or where immediate safety is at risk. If there is ongoing fear, coercion, or violence, we’ll discuss safer and more appropriate support routes.
